SANTA MONICA, CA — 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica will continue offering Spanish-and English-language online art classes on Wednesdays and Fridays via Zoom throughout the rest of the school year. Through May and June, expect to meet even more artists and students joining in from around the world.

"The workshops have been going great so far," Sue Bell Yank, Deputy Director of 18th Street, told Patch via email. "One lovely anecdote is that we've had a global audience. For Yrneh's reading workshop a couple of weeks ago, we had students tune in from Nigeria and Ghana, in addition to the U.S. It was awesome."

This week, performance duo Beck +Col will teach Monster Movement, packed with stomping, singing and yodeling.

The online classes started last month and there is no cost. Classes meet every Wednesday and Friday at 11 a.m., including several break weeks, through June 12. During the week of April 29 there will be a family-friendly online film screening and conversation with artists rather than a workshop-style class.

Families are encouraged to work together. Most students are all ages and it's recommended that children will benefit from some adult supervision and help.
