DUI Suspects Crashed Car, Had Rifle & Drugs, Police Say
Three suspects involved in a series of DUI crashes from LA to Santa Monica were arrested on suspicion of possession of a rifle and drugs.
SANTA MONICA, CA — Three suspects involved in a series of DUI crashes from Los Angeles to Santa Monica had a sawed-off rifle and drugs and were arrested Tuesday, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
A resident reported a reckless driver in a silver Honda Accord had crashed into several parked vehicles in Los Angeles and Santa Monica neighborhoods before colliding with a parked car and landing on the front lawn of a home in the 1100 block of Cedar Street, near 11th Street, about 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
Officers detained the suspect and passenger, both men, and talked to a witness who said that a woman walked away from the crashed Honda carrying a large item wrapped in a blanket, police said.

Suspect Yaylin Lopez, 19, of Van Nuys, was found a short distance away, police said. All three suspects were arrested and booked.
"Lopez was in possession of a sawed-off .22 caliber rifle and several Xanax pills," police said.

The driver, Jose Enrique Bueno, 20, of Huntington Park, was booked on suspicion of DUI. His bail was set at $15,000. Bueno is scheduled to appear at LAX Superior Court Thursday.
The passenger, Fernando Vazquez, 18, of Los Angeles, was booked on suspicion of public intoxication. His bail was set at $250.
Lopez was booked on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possession of Benzodiazepine drugs without a prescription. Her bail was set at $10,000. She was scheduled to appear at LAX Superior Court Wednesday morning.
