Fire Extinguished At Gussie Moran House In Santa Monica
Santa Monica firefighters extinguished the blaze at the historical building in 16 minutes.
SANTA MONICA, CA — Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that broke out at the historical Gussie Moran House in Santa Monica Tuesday evening.
The Santa Monica Fire Department responded at 7:04 p.m. to the structure fire at the historical Gussie Moran House, which was built in 1887 and is at 1323 Ocean Avenue. Firefighters found a fire burning on the back of a three-story building, extending up to the third floor.
"Firefighters made an aggressive offensive attack and knocked down the exterior fire," the SMFD news release said. Firefighters inside the building found more flames inside and quickly opened the interior walls, knocking down all fire within 16 minutes.

A total of 27 Firefighters worked to control the fire, responding with five fire engines, one truck and a Battalion Command team to mitigate the emergency, the news release said. The Santa Monica Police Department provided traffic control, and the Los Angeles City Fire Department provided back-up.
There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
