Illegal Left Turn Causes Metro Train Crash In Santa Monica: SMPD

No one was injured in the train-versus-vehicle crash Monday morning.

SANTA MONICA, CA— A driver who made an illegal left turn in front of a Metro train in Santa Monica was lucky to escape serious injury in the crash, authorities said Monday.

The crash occurred shortly before noon in the area of 11th Street and Colorado Avenue, according to Santa Monica Police Department Lt. Rudy Flores.

Emergency personnel cleared the scene about 15 minutes later, according to the Santa Monica Fire Department.

The circumstances of the crash remained under investigation. There were no reports of injuries among train passengers and staff.
