Inauguration Day: Santa Monica Pier Closing, Updated Market Hours
The Santa Monica Pier will close on Inauguration Day Wednesday. The city also announced other updates and closures.

SANTA MONICA, CA — The city of Santa Monica announced several closures and schedule changes for Inauguration Day Wednesday, including closing the Santa Monica Pier.
Service hours will be adjusted Wednesday for the following locations:
- The Downtown Farmers Market hours will be adjusted to 7:30 to 11 a.m.
- Santa Monica Public Library curbside service will be suspended for the day at all locations.
- The city's Planning Commission will air live on YouTube and not City TV, Channel 16. The meeting will be broadcast on CityTV Channel 16 the following day, Thursday.
Other schedule changes or adjustments to city service hours will be shared directly with community members, city officials announced.

Interim Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks also shared a video with the community about the Santa Monica Police Department’s precautionary preparations and increased staffing for the Inauguration period, which is now underway.
"The City thanks the community for their understanding and flexibility as we proceed prudently in light of recent events in our nation’s Capitol," officials said in a statement.
