10 Freeway Reopened After Jumper Halts Traffic

Neither direction of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway​ in Santa Monica was moving for about a half-hour Friday afternoon.

SANTA MONICA, CA — Traffic on both sides of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway was brought to a standstill Friday afternoon while authorities worked to coax a would-be jumper to safety. After about a half-hour of coaxing, the person taken to a hospital for mental health assistance, according to Santa Monica police.

The California Highway Patrol reports all freeway lanes have been reopened by 3:40 p.m.

Traffic had been halted in both directions of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway in the area of Fourth Street in Santa Monica, the California Highway Patrol reported.
