Library's Seuss-a-bration To Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday

The free family-friendly event includes a craft room and two variety shows.

SANTA MONICA, CA – The Santa Monica Public Library will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday on Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Santa Monica Main Library’s Children’s Activity Room.

The event includes a craft room and two comedy, magic and juggling variety shows performed by Abbit the Average at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. in the Martin Luther King Jr. Auditorium. Refreshments are provided during the event, the City of Santa Monica press release said.

During the Seuss-a-bration, families will have the opportunity to check out the library’s collection of Dr. Seuss stories, DVDs, audiobooks, emedia and books about Dr. Seuss’ life and work, the press release said.

The event will conclude with an appearance by Mayor Gleam Davis for the March edition of Let’s Read with Gleam, where she will share some of her favorite children’s books, the City said. Let’s Read with Gleam is part of a free monthly reading series that focuses on the importance of literacy and learning and will rotate through Santa Monica’s library branches in 2019, according to the press release.

The program is free and open to children and their families, but seating is limited and on a first-arrival basis. The Santa Monica Main Library is located at 601 Santa Monica Blvd. in Santa Monica.
