Monday Essentials: Jazz on the Lawn, Activist Support Circle, Solar Water Heating

Five things residents of Santa Monica need to know this week.

1. A workshop on solar water heating basics is set for Wednesday at the Bergamot Station in Santa Monica. The workshop is free and being offered by SoCalGas. Register at SoCalGas.com.

2. Retiring L.A. Councilman Bill Rosendahl will be the featured speaker at the Activist Support Circle 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Santa Monica Friends Meeting Hall located at 1440 Harvard Street.

3. Stressed out? Learn to enjoy Santa Monica's beauty with walking meditations each Thursday from July 11 to Aug. 29 from 5 to 6:20 p.m. Priority registration is given to Santa Monica residents. The walk focuses on reducing stress, building energy and cultivating awareness. Learn more here.

4. The Santa Monica Cultural Arts Commission will present the eighth annual Jazz on the Lawn summer concert series starting in August on Sundays from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stewart Street Park. Enjoy a different frozen treat weekly including gelato from Tango Mango, natural ice pops from Popshop, Hawaiian shaved ice from Frosty Shave and organic ice cream from Sweet Lucies.
