Santa Monica College Will Offer In-Person Classes For Fall 2021
Santa Monica College will offer in-person classes and online options for the Fall 2021 semester.
SANTA MONICA, CA — Santa Monica College will offer in-person classes and online options for the Fall 2021 semester, college officials announced this week.
The Fall 2021 semester begins Aug. 30 and the college will offer different, flexible course offerings, including in-person options.
Although a majority of courses will be online, the move is a response to Los Angeles County entering red tier this week. Low contact sports, including swimming, tennis, and track & field have returned, however, it's unclear what will happen in the fall with other sports.

Some in-person courses could pivot back to online if coronavirus cases do climb again. Courses over the summer will remain online.
"It has been a year since Santa Monica College moved to an online environment because of the COVID-19 pandemic," Superintendent/President Kathryn E. Jeffery, Ph.D. said in a statement. " We have been through so much together. I know this has not been an easy year. Thank you for the resilience and persistence you have shown, and for continuing your educational journey at SMC."
