COVID Remembrance Day Event Honors Lives Lost
Santa Monica honors lives lost during the pandemic on March 1 with a COVID remembrance day and virtual event.

SANTA MONICA, CA — A heart of roses will be placed at the Building Bridges Art Exchange in Santa Monica for a COVID-19 Memorial Day Vigil Monday.
"The heart which is laid in connection to the Rose River Memorial will be a chance for people to come by, reflect and honor those we've lost," Rose River Memorial shared. "The LA vigil has been arranged by Carolyn Freyer Jones and Jill Alexander who both lost their fathers to COVID-19."

Community members are invited to honor lives lost during the pandemic as the Rose River Memorial project continues in Santa Monica and now travels to Orange County Museum of Art this week.
Each red felt rose honors a memory, a life lost. It started with just a few handmade, red felt roses, but the Rose River Memorial has now grown to signify the thousands who have died in the coronavirus pandemic, artist and creator Marcos Lutyens told Patch.
