Santa Monica Police Blotter: Woman Booked For Simple Assault

The incident occurred at Ocean Front Walk when a woman attempted to intercept a father and his four-year-old daughter when the child began crying.

On Aug 23. at approximately 10:04 a.m. a visiting tourist accidentally scratched his four-year-old daughter's head while loading her into a child -carrying trailer attached to a rental bike.  

When the child started to cry, a woman standing nearby approached trying to console the toddler. The female subject, according to the victim (father) was barefoot, disheveled, and looked insane.

At this point, the female subject tried to touch the child with her hand.  The victim fearing for his daughter's safety grabbed the subject's wrist to prevent the person from touching his daughter.

The female subject then tried to push passed the victim in an attempt to touch the child, causing both her and the father to collide.  The victim then took the female to the ground and held her there until police officers arrived.

After interviewing both the victim, the female subject, and several eye witnesses, the female subject was arrested and subsequently booked for simple assault, resisting arrest and falsely representing self. No bail.
