A Spectrum of Color at bG Gallery

A kaleidoscope of multicolored works of art are now on exhibit in Santa Monica’s bG Gallery in the celebrated annual exhibition “Spectrum 8” which features numerous Gestalt Projects gallery artists showcasing their latest works in their preferred colors. The rainbow themed installation brings together artists’ works from a wide variety of genres and mediums, grouping them into an expansive spectrum of color. Concept and exhibition curated by bG gallery’s director Om Bleicher.

Especially for this exhibition, I wanted to create new paintings with the color purple and its hues. The color lavender has been especially meaningful to me during these COVID times since I took on interest during quarantine in planting lavender in my garden. I have found the plant to be resilient, poignant, beautifully gorgeous in its subdued purple hues and grayish blue green stems and leaves. More importantly is the plant’s therapeutic benefits and uplifting aspects through its perfume, making it a great source of relaxation in stressful times. Consequently, the color lavender has been symbolic to me in so many ways. Hence, I felt the need of celebrating its beauty in my latest paintings that are currently on exhibit at “Spectrum 8” such as “Seamless Lavender”, “Lavender in the City” and “Lavender Allegory” along with an abstract painting titled “Lavender” depicting the flow of lights and lines in an abstracted city-like theme. The paintings also elude to my love to cityscapes and architecture in a painterly manner true to my identity as an artist.
