West LA Rolling Robots' Rookie VEX Robotics Teams Go to California State Championship on March 12

All 8 Rolling Robots' Elementary to Middle and High School Teams will compete in VEX IQ and VRC State Championship at Pasadena

Through their hard work in the 2015 to 2016 Vex Robotics Season, all 8 Rolling Robots' VEX Robotics Competition Teams from three locations are qualified for the VEX Robotics California State Championship on Saturday, March 12, 2016 in Pasadena Convention Center.

The teams are Elementary School Teams - 7700G (Glendale), 7700J (Palos Verdes), 7700W (West LA), Middle School Teams - 7700A (Glendale), 7700B (Palos Verdes), 7700E (Palos Verdes), and 7700C (West LA), and High School Team - 7700R (Palos Verdes). All the Teams are featured on Rolling Robots' Facebook Page.

In the 2015- 2016 session, all 8 teams have earned combined more than 20 awards including Excellence Award (over all highest award), Tournament Champion Award, Teamwork Champion Award, Design Award, Programming Skill Champion Award, STEM Award and many others.

Each team has been meeting every week working on designing, building, programming, and testing of the team robot. The teams have also participated many local competitions. Earning the top awards at the location competitions is the way to qualify them to participate the State Championship.

The Saturday event is open to public. It is a great opportunity to show young children what they can do for fun while learning important skills for their future careers.

According to the VEX Robotics Website: The VEX Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, is the largest and fastest growing middle and high school robotics program globally with more than 10,000 teams from 32 countries playing in over 750 tournaments worldwide. Each year, an exciting engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game. Students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors, build innovative robots and compete year-round in a variety of matches. In addition to learning valuable engineering skills, students gain life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, communication, collaboration, project management, and critical thinking. The VEX Robotics Competition prepares students to become future innovators with 95% of participants reporting an increased interest in STEM subject areas and pursuing STEM-related careers.
