When Your Doughnuts Must Scream HOLIDAYS: Head To Astro

SANTA MONICA, CA — Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken in Santa Monica is prepping holiday boxes of Christmas and Hanukkah, artisanal doughnuts that could be ideal for locals in need of gift options or entertaining treats.

The Hanukkah 2019 line-up will be available Dec. 22 through Dec. 30 and will include:

Traditional Sufganiyot and Hanukkah Mini Dozens
For the entire eight days of Hanukkah, Astro will serve doughnuts inspired by the Festival of Lights with such delicacies as fried jelly doughnuts and sufganiyots, available as a full-sized treat and in mini form as part of the Hanukkah dozen box. The mini dozen includes four each of these varieties:

• Sufganiyot: filled with house-made strawberry jam, dusted in powdered sugar and topped with a piece of chocolate Hanukkah gelt.
• Hanukkah Cookie doughnut: featuring a shortbread crumble, covered with vanilla icing, Hanukkah sprinkles and crowned with a Star of David.
• Astro’s signature Crème Brûlée doughnut with individually torched sugar coating and filled with pastry cream.

The Christmas Collection is a collection of four doughnuts available both as full-size and as minis.

The Yuletide doughnuts include:

• Christmas Cookie: vanilla glaze, shortbread crumble and finished off with royal icing, sprinkles and a vanilla Christmas sugar cookie.
• Chocolate Candy Cane: a chocolate cake doughnut gets holiday makeover with chocolate peppermint glaze and chopped candy cane.
• Egg Nog: a sour-cream cake doughnut with brandy egg-nog glaze, cinnamon dusting and milk chocolate cup filled with egg-nog custard.
• Red Velvet: a festive interpretation with cream cheese glaze, holiday sprinkles and red velvet cake crumbs.
