Dave's Hot Chicken Opens 2nd San Diego-Area Restaurant
For those who like it hot, the SoCal-founded chain requires a signed waiver for its "Reaper"-level, spicy chicken.
EL CAJON, CA — Dave’s Hot Chicken, a fast-growing chain renown for its "No Spice" to "Reaper" heat-level chicken, celebrated the Sunday grand opening of its new El Cajon restaurant — marking the eatery's second, San Diego-area locale.
A Pacific Beach location opened May 2020 on Garnet Avenue.
Founded in 2017 as a Hollywood-area, pop-up by two friends and two brothers — equipped with with a portable fryer and picnic tables — Dave's Hot Chicken now has locations in Greater Los Angeles, Colorado, Oregon and Canada, with expansion plans that include Las Vegas and Texas, plus another local site in Mira Mesa, according to company officials.

"We are ecstatic to be opening our second location in the San Diego area and grateful to the community for the support it has shown for our Pacific Beach location,” said Bill Phelps, the restaurant's CEO.
The fast-casual spot specializes in hand-breaded chicken tenders and sliders, offered in seven varying spice levels ranging from "No Spice" to "Reaper" — the fieriest one geared to daring diners, who must sign a waiver to order.

Also on the menu: house-made Kale Slaw; mac n’ cheese; and French fries.
