Driver Crashes Into Pole, Cut From Vehicle In East County
Heartland Fire & Rescue firefighters cut the driver out of the wreckage of the vehicle in Lakeside, which was later towed from the scene.
LAKESIDE, CA — A driver believed to be in his early 20s was seriously injured Monday following a high-speed crash into a palm tree and traffic light pole that left him trapped inside his totaled vehicle, forcing his extraction.
The solo-vehicle accident occurred at 6:59 a.m. at 8276 Wintergardens Blvd. in Lakeside, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.
"The driver of a Mazda 3 ran off the road and appeared to have major injuries after crashing into a pole," the CHP said.
