'Lucky To Call Him Dad': Santee Father's Day Photo
Help us celebrate Father's Day 2018 by submitting your favorite photo of dad.

SANTEE, CA — Sons and daughters become a reflection of the men who raise them. With Father's Day 2018 right around the corner, we are celebrating that special bond by inviting Patch readers across California to share photos of their dads, whether the father figure in their life is their biological dad, stepdad or granddad.
Patch reader Amy Schroeder sent this sweet photo of her father, Gordy Davis, with two of his four grandchildren.
Davis, who turned 76 years old on Monday, has lived in Santee for 46 years. He is still running the business he started 25 years ago, Gordy's Stump Grinding, Schroeder said.

"He is the hardest working guy I know," Schroeder said. "He works because he loves talking to people."
In February, Davis lost his wife to cancer. He took his first vacation in 25 years to take her ashes on the road trip of her dreams, Schroeder said.

"They had an amazingly crazy love over their 50 years of marriage and he loved her dearly," she said. "He always taught us to work hard and kiss the ones you love because everyday is not guaranteed.
"My brother and I are lucky to call him our dad!"
Happy Father's Day!
