Man Wounded In Freeway Shooting In Santee

A man was wounded in a shooting Monday morning on state Route 125 in Santee.

SANTEE, CA — A man was wounded in a shooting Monday morning on state Route 125 in Santee.

Deputies from the Santee Sheriff's Station responded to a report of a shooting shortly before 8 a.m. on northbound SR-125.

"As the victim, a 28-year-old man, approached the terminus of the 125 at Mission Gorge Road, a black SUV began driving parallel to the victim's vehicle," sheriff's Detective Tyler Norby said. "An occupant of the SUV fired several shots into the direction of the victim's vehicle, striking the victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the neck."

The victim was taken to a hospital and later released.

The suspect was unknown and remained outstanding.

Anyone with any information about the shooting was asked to call Norby at 619-956-4000, the sheriff's department at 858-565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
