A plane that left San Jose for a Texas airport today was diverted to Phoenix due to an unruly passenger, officials said.

The plane safely landed at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at 1:38 p.m. MDT due to the unruly passenger, airport spokeswoman Heather Lissner said.

Officers arrived at the gate and were informed by the flight crew that a 26-year-old passenger appeared to be intoxicated, was disruptive and needed to be restrained, Officer James Holmes said. The officers escorted the passenger off the plane and the airline chose not to pursue charges in the incident, according to Holmes.

No injuries were reported, Holmes said.
