High School Soccer Coach Arrested, Accused Of Sexual Abuse

Misconduct charges may be leveled on a Prospect High School soccer coach involving a minor on his team, per Santa Clara Co. Sheriff's.

SARATOGA, CA -- A Prospect High School soccer coach was taken into custody on suspicion of sex crimes Monday upon a tip from a family member of the 14-year-old girl who played on the man's team.

Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Saturday at 4:46 p.m. to a residence in San Jose for a report of a prior sexual assault of a minor. Deputies were contacted by the victim’s family after her mother believed that her daughter may be a victim of sexual assault.

The county sheriff’s office conducted a full investigation.

Consequently, Jansen Estrada, 24, was arrested on various sexual charges, including molestation of a person under the age of 18, oral copulation, penetration with a foreign object and sexual battery, the sheriff's department claimed.

During the investigation, deputies determined Estrada also worked as an eighth-grade tutor at Moreland Middle School and Easterbrook Discovery School, both located in San Jose.

He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

“It is a deplorable act to be in a position of power and prey on the innocence of a young girl. As a law enforcement agency, we are committed to protect those who are most vulnerable. This is a reminder to have open dialogue with your children and stay vigilant by monitoring their activity,” Sheriff Laurie Smith said.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. Sheriff’s detectives are working closely with the schools and district to ensure there are no other victims.
