Kaiser Permanente grants $1M+ for Community Health in Silicon Valley
34 health providing agencies share in large grant from Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara and San Jose Hospitals

Thirty four Silicon Valley nonprofits that provide community health and well-being services will share $1,045,000 in Community Benefit grants from Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara and Kaiser Permanente San Jose medical centers. The grants range from $10,000 to $50,000 per organization.
The grants are part of Kaiser Permanente’s National Community Benefit Program, which annually provides more than $2-billion to wellness groups across the nation.

“At Kaiser Permanente, we believe in wellness and prevention of illness for all members of our community” said Chris Boyd, Senior Vice President and Area Manager of Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center. “It’s our Total Health perspective that allows us to impact change beyond our hospital walls.”

For example, a Kaiser Permanente grant will allow one group to pilot an innovative program to reduce opioid addiction.
“The Supporting Safe Opioid Prescribing in Primary Care Project will bring much needed training and resources to the staff of Community Health Centers (CHC) with the goal of promoting best practices and, ultimately, reducing the incidence of opioid addiction, overdoses, and hospitalizations” said Dolores Alvarado, CEO of Community Health Partnership.
