Obituary: Saratoga Resident Barbara 'Bobbi' Battaglia

One of triplets, Battaglia and sisters were the rave of San Francisco in the early '40s.

Saratoga resident Barbara"Bobbi" Battaglia passed away on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at 9:07 p.m. at the age of 77, after a three month struggle against pneumonia.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, her son Eugene J. Battaglia of Pleasanton, her daughter Theresa M. Martin of Sonora, and her brother Michael E. Toupes of Redwood City, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

One of triplets, she and her sisters Carol and Beverly were born Jan. 31, 1936 in San Francisco and were the rave of the city at the time. They were featured in numerous newspaper articles. Both sisters preceded her in death, along with a younger sister, Darlene.

Bobbi, a long time Saratoga resident, was very active in club work and playing bridge.

She was past president of the Cupertino West Valley Welcome Club and for several years supervised a local book club for a group of friends interested in similar reading genres. She played as much bridge as she could fit into her busy schedule.

She participated in many church-related activities, including being a Eucharistic minister at Mass and bringing the host to the sick and infirmed.

A memorial Mass in her honor was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013 at the Church of the Ascension on Prospect Road. A reception followed at Alameda Family Funeral Home.
