Obituary: Wanda Evelyn Ashcroft Flora

Wanda Evelyn Ashcroft Flora was born in West Carthage, NY June 24, 1931. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1948.

Wanda passed away peacefully at home in Saratoga on April 17, 2013 after a long illness with family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of Robert E. Flora for more than 60 years. She was mother to six children and three grandchildren, Roberta Poulin, Therese Webb, Marci Miller and Mark Flora, Mike Flora and Pat Flora and their spouses: Tom Poulin, Dave Webb, Richard Miller, Gaynol Lang Flora and Molly Flora.

She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Ashley Webb, Austin Webb and Kevin Poulin.

Wanda was a devoted mother cooking meals and packing lunches for her family daily. With Bob being in the USAF they moved 10 times to nine different states.

Some years she was left to care for the children alone for months at a time due to her husband's overseas assignments.

As the children grew older Wanda worked at Underwriter's Laboratory in Santa Clara. She liked to go on cruises, golf, play cards and games with family and friends.

Wanda's life was dedicated to her family, friends, community and church.

The family wishes to thank all of the wonderful staff at Hospice of the Valley and Wanda's caregivers of many years from Familiar Surroundings.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary vigil at 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at Alameda Family Funeral Home at 12341 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, in Saratoga.

The funeral Mass will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at 12033 Miller Ave., in Saratoga. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Los Altos.
