Saratoga's Quito Village Shopping Center Looking to Fill 10 Vacancies

Sandhill Properties says there is interest in the center. The addition of Starbucks, which opened in late September, has helped.

In late September, a Starbucks moved into Saratoga’s Quito Village Shopping Center, quickly becoming popular in its new neighborhood.

But the center still has 10 vacancies, which some community members feel is becoming an eyesore. Still, reports property owner Sandhilll Properties, the center is actively searching for tenants.

“We have a lot of interest, which leads me to believe that we will be filling the spots soon,” said Rochelle Lopez, the property manager of Redwood City-based Sandhill.

The last tenant to close its doors was Saratoga Health Foods after its owners retired earlier this year, said Lopez. A travel agency relocated in 2011, and the other spots have been vacant for a few years.

“The store fronts have sat empty for quite some time,” observed Saratoga Mayor Chuck Page, who did not have any information on prospective businesses.

Page agreed that the Starbucks, which filled a space formerly occupied by Kelly’s Liquors, was a positive addition to the shopping center that brings in more foot traffic.

The vacancies, said Lopez, are due to the selectiveness of Sandhill, and not due to a lack of demand for the spots. “This is a very family friendly neighborhood, so we’re looking for tenants that will work well,” she said.

Lopez is currently in talks with a few prospective tenants, she said, but could not yet disclose their names or move-in dates until they sign a lease.

While there are 10 spaces, they can either be combined for larger businesses or divided for smaller businesses, she said.

Sandhill has a property office in the Quito Village Shopping Center, which Lopez encouraged prospective tenants to contact. The address is 18774 Cox Ave.

They can also be reached by phone at 408-379-9100.
