Santa Clara County Finds Turner Construction in Default On $300 Million Hospital Construction Project
The contract may be terminated.

Santa Clara County has formally notified Turner Construction that it is in default of its contract to construct a new 168-room hospital building on the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center campus, county officials announced this morning.
The county may terminate one of the nation’s largest construction firms for not keeping its promise to safely complete the facility on time, negative patient care impacts and the loss of approximately $36 million a year in hospital revenue due to the bed building falling over two-years behind its scheduled opening, according to county officials.
More information will be released at a press conference this afternoon.
