Saratoga PG&E Power Outage Latest: Restorations Continue Friday

SARATOGA, CA — Power has been restored to thousands of customers in Santa Clara County affected by Pacific Gas and Electric Company's Public Safety Power Shutoff, though many still remain in the dark as of Friday morning.

Saratoga Union School District schools have reopened Friday after being closed Thursday. Power was still out Thursday evening at Saratoga Elementary School and the District Office, but the district said it had gotten assurances from PG&E that power would be fully restored by early morning Friday.

Shutoffs in Santa Clara County started late Wednesday night, with 38,000 customers expected to be impacted. There is no definitive timetable as to when full power will be restored.

Power Restorations

PG&E crews started safety inspections in Santa Clara County Thursday after weather conditions improved. By Thursday evening, about 426,000 customers around California had their power restored, out of the 738,000 who had been affected.

Safety patrols and inspections ended at nightfall Thursday, since they can only take place during the day. They were set to resume Friday morning, with the agency sending out more than 6,300 field personnel on the ground as well as 44 helicopters.

PG&E's community resource center in Santa Clara County is open Friday until 6 p.m. at Avaya Stadium, 1123 Coleman Avenue in San Jose.
