Witchy Walk-A-Bout This Saturday
Trick-or-treat event expected to bring 500 children to Saratoga Village.
Every year, a mass of witches, devils and walking pumpkins take over Saratoga Village.
This year is no exception. On Saturday, Oct. 27, 2-5 p.m., about 500 children and their parents are expected to pour into downtown for the 10th annual Witchy Walk-a-Bout, said event coordinator Jill Hunter.

“It’s wall-to-wall kids in our downtown,” said Hunter, a spokeswoman for the Saratoga Village Development Council, which has hosted the event for the past decade.
All downtown businesses will participate in the event by handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters, said Hunter. Kids should bring their own bags.

Everyone participating in the event is asked to dress in costume, bring their Halloween bag and enjoy trick-or-treating with the village merchants.
The Saratoga Parent Nursery School is also planning a special play area for the kids that participate.
The event sponsor, the SVDC, promotes the merchants of the historic Village to the citizens of Saratoga and the surrounding community, according to the organization's website.
The SVDC is a networking group of more than 500 shopkeepers, restaurateurs and city residents. No dues are required. The entire group meets regularly in cyberspace by way of an email listserver, and encourages and welcomes all members to attend planning meetings held on the second and last Tuesday of each month in the Village, according to its website.
Saratoga residents and merchants are welcome to join the SVDC listserver, attend meetings and visit the Saratoga Village blog: http://blog.saratoga-village.com/
