$21K Raised For Local Food Banks By Scotts Valley Nob Hill

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — Customers, suppliers and staff at the Scotts Valley Nob Hill raised more than $21,400 for hungry area residents as part of the Raley's grocery chain annual holiday drive, Raley's Food For Families.

The store, at 222 Mt. Hermon Road, is one of three Santa Cruz County stores owned by Raley's. They raised a combined $55,900, with some $19,200 raised by the Capitola shop and $15,000 raised by the Watsonville shop, according to numbers provided by a Raley's spokesperson.

Raley's Food For Families is a nonprofit organization that partners with 12 food banks in Northern California and Nevada — where the chain's stores are located — in hopes to reach the 1.4 million food-insecure people in those communities, Raley's wrote in a press release. The nonprofit worked with food banks to create holiday bags that reflect the needs of local customers.

The grocery chain raised a record $2.1 million across all of its stores.

All county donations will go toward Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County.
