Gavin Jack's parents notified us that Gavin is receiving a heart today, Friday at 10:30 a.m. We are keeping Gavin and his family in our prayers as well as the family and loved ones of the donor.
Gavin, a 2013 Soquel High graduate, was diagnosed with arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia, a genetic heart condition, in October 2011. He has been hospitalized since the summer at Stanford awaiting a transplant.
He is the son of Tony Jack, a Santa Cruz County sheriff's deputy. His stepfather also is a retired sheriff's deputy.
