Lois Henry has served on the Board of Directors with the struggling Lompico County Water District since 2008.  Her background as Chief Executive Officer for 29 years at the Watsonville Community Credit Union provided her with expertise in conducting investigations of the financial shortfalls and operational needs of this water district.  She worked with the Grand Jury to assist with their investigations of LCWD, secured bridge loans from the County of Santa Cruz to address finances needed to sustain the district and followed up on inspections with the California  Department of Public Health (CDPH) to address facility infrastructure concerns.  Lois is known as a team player, who builds consensus for solutions and insists on adhering to the spirit of board policies and the Brown Act while often dealing with turmoil.

“In the face of myriad challenges – financial, administrative and infrastructure -- Lois Henry has steered a course for stability and future effectiveness in meeting the water requirements for her community,” stated Fifth District County Supervisor Bruce McPherson.  “Her commitment to public service will benefit generations yet to come.”

Lois Henry has been a driving force to bring the truth to the community regarding a needed consolidation with our neighboring water district, San Lorenzo Valley Water district (SLVWD).  Her efforts to “stay the course” continue as she works with LAFCO, the County of Santa Cruz, SLVWD and CDPH forming key relationships to enhance the District’s direction for consolidation.

“ Lois Henry embodies the ideals of public service and leadership; she is hard working, charmingly eloquent and clearly demonstrates her commitment, dedication and passion for the environment and water for the community of Lompico,” noted County Administrative Officer, Susan Mauriello.
