Corpse Found Sunday In Santa Cruz County, Sheriff's Office Says

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office is seeking witnesses in the area at the time of the crime.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A 28-year-old San Jose man was found dead Sunday night in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's office is investigating the case as a homicide. Deputies have not released the victim's name as they try to get in contact with his family.

Deputies responded to a call of a man with a gun near the 17000 block of Laurel Road and Highway 17 Sunday, around 8 p.m., the sheriff's office said Monday afternoon in a news release. Deputies found an unresponsive man who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said they are looking for two people — possibly women in their 40s — who were there at the time of the crime.
