'Police in Pursuit' Take to the Race Track This Weekend

Come watch police officers chase each other around Ocean Speedway.

Santa Cruz County law enforcement officers will race each other at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville on Friday evening.

But it's not just the top spot and bragging rights the cops are competeting for — the annual Police in Pursuit event is a benefit for Special Olympics of Northern California.

Seven officers from Scotts Valley Police, State Parks, Capitola Police, the Sheriff's Office, the California Highway Patrol and Watsonville Police will participate.

The proceeds help children and adults with developmental disabilities have access to year-round access to free sports training and competition.

The event is 6-10 p.m. Friday at Ocean Speedway at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, 2601 E. Lake Ave. in Watsonville.

John Prentice at Ocean Speedway, Ken More of Life Saver Tow, Dan Dogherra at Dogherra's Tow and Jack Ladd of Ladd's Tow assist with the event.
