Prescribed Burn Planned Feb. 27 In Bonny Doon, Santa Cruz County

Smoke may be hanging in the air for a day or two after the prescribed burn in northern Santa Cruz County, Cal Fire said.

FELTON, CA — Cal Fire plans to conduct a 22-acre prescribed burn Thursday, Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the San Vicente Redwoods property in the upper Bonny Doon area of Santa Cruz County. Smoke could be visible for a day or two after the burn.

The burn is a vegetation management initiative to eliminate the accumulation of fire fuels, and is being done in cooperation with Peninsula Open Space Trust, Sempervirens Fund and Save the Redwoods League. The Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District issued a permit for the burn.
