Santa Cruz Deputies Praised For Saving Man From Fire

Deputies knocked down a house door to rescue a man from a fire.

MOUNT HERMON, CA -- Two deputies were praised Monday for saving a man from a house fire in Mount Hermon. In a Facebook post, Santa Cruz County Sheriff's officials wrote a house fire erupted recently in the unincorporated town while Deputies Ramos and Kriner were conducting area checks.

"They immediately began directing incoming fire personnel to the right location," the Facebook post said. "After confirming no one was inside the burning home they began evacuating adjacent homes."

In a nearby house, they saw a man sleeping with noise-canceling headphones in the window, the post went on to say.

"As the flames began to spread to this second house and the heat from the very close fire began bursting it’s windows, the deputies kicked down the door and ran inside, where they woke the man and another resident," the Facebook post said.
