School Board To Pay $100,000 To Make Scotts Valley Schools Safer

Currently doors in Scotts Valley schools can only be locked from the outside.

But that’s going to change in March thanks to new safety measure the School Board voted on Tuesday, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported.

The board agreed to foot the $100,000 bill to buy and install software that allows doors to be locked from the inside.

The board is also looking into ways to prevent windows from being shattered, allowing an intruder to gain access.

In the wake of the tragic Newtown school shootings last month, schools around the country are searching for ways to improve their safety.
