SV Cyclist Dies in Rio Del Mar Saturday

A cyclist who died while riding his bike in Rio Del Mar Saturday has been identified as Richard Lucero, 45, of Scotts Valley, according to the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

Lucero was riding a custom road bike west from San Andreas Road about 10:15 a.m. when he fell or crashed, according to the California Highway Patrol. He was pronounded dead shortly after paramedics arrived.

It is unclear as to exactly what caused his death, but it doesn't appear that a car was involved, according to the CHP. An autopsy will be conducted early this week.
