Watch: Deer Rescued From Netting in Santa Cruz Mountains
The young buck was found tangled in utility netting earlier this week.

A young buck ensnared himself in a piece of utility netting that had been strung along Branciforte Creek, about 30 feet from the road in the Santa Cruz Mountains but was rescued and ran off—apparently uninjured—on Monday.Â
Personnel from County Animal Services and Wildlife Emergency Services collaborated to help the young deer.Â
Wildlife Emergency Services, a Moss Landing-based nonprofit, shared the video and story of the rescue on its blog and a video on Vimeo.
Wildlife Emergency Services is an organization dedicated to improving emergency response to sick, injured, orphaned, trapped or otherwise imperiled wildlife, resulting in reduced animal suffering, an increase in the number of animals that survive, enhanced public service with emphasis on public safety.
KION put together this report on the dangers netting poses to wildlife, both in the ocean and on land.Â
