Casa Vega Teams With Foo Fighters For Tacos Toward Charity

Proceeds will benefit 'No Us Without You,' a non-profit that helps back-of-house restaurant staff who struggle with food insecurity.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Casa Vega is teaming up with the Foo Fighters for limited edition tacos with a good cause. The longtime Mexican restaurant in Sherman Oaks added the "Foo Fighters Smoked Brisket Tacos" to the menu, with a portion of the profits going to No Us Without You, a non-profit fighting food insecurity among laid-off restaurant workers.

The taco includes smoked brisket, Mexican elote, spanish rice and refried beans. The restaurant promoted the new item with a high-octane, dancing-in-the-street style video on Ventura Boulevard right in front of Casa Vega.

"Hard times require furious dancing, and [Foo Fighters] Smoked Brisket Tacos!" owner Christy Vega said.

Born in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, No Us Without You was launched by Va'La Hospitality as a way to aid undocumented workers struggling to feed their families in the pandemic. Based in Boyle Heights, the organization distributes over 100,000 pounds of food each week, providing pantry essentials and fresh produce to cooks, dishwashers and other back-of-house staff.

Casa Vega reopened for outdoor dining on National Margarita Day, and now offers indoor dining as well with tables limited to 6 people from a single household. The restaurant says they installed HEPA filters throughout the restaurant and increased ventilation to allow for better air flow.
