Councilmember To Discuss Homelessness At SOHA Meeting

Councilman Kevin de León will join the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association to discuss what needs to be done to end homelessness.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — Councilmember Kevin De León will join tonight's Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association meeting to discuss the homeless crisis, fixing unsafe streets and reopening businesses in thje community. The meeting will start at 7:15 p.m. and be held on Zoom.

De León represents district 14, which includes downtown and skid row, Eagle Rock, parts of Highland Park and other nearby neighborhoods. He was recently elected to City Council in 2020, replacing Councilman Jose Huizar who was indicted on federal corruption charges.

The councilman previously stated a goal of creating 25,000 housing units for homeless people in Los Angeles by 2025.

“It’s very important that we have a benchmark,” De León told the Los Angeles Times. “Something that’s real concrete, and that you can [use to] measure our success or lack thereof.... I think it’s really critical.”
