DUI Checkpoint To Be Held In Sherman Oaks
LAPD officers will be stationed in the area looking for signs of impaired driving.
SHERMAN OAKAS, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department will hold a series of DUI checkpoints this weekend, including a stop in Sherman Oaks. Patrol officers will be posted at Ventura Boulevard and Columbus Avenue this Saturday from 7 p.m. until 12 a.m.
"Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests," LAPD said in a statement. "The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired. During the checkpoint, officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs."
LAPD offered the following tips for drivers to stay safe on the roads.
"See someone who is clearly impaired try and drive? Take the keys and help them make other arrangements to find a sober way home."
