Friends, Family Gather to Remember Lightning Strike Victim

Friends and family of Nick Fagnano, who died Sunday after being struck by lightning on Venice Beach, gathered tonight to remember “the nicest guy.”

The vigil, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, was organized by high school buddies from Sherman Oak’s Notre Dame. He was scheduled to start USC in the fall, transferring from Santa Barbara City College.

“Nick was a wonderful and sweet young man who loved participating on the Knight baseball team throughout his high school years,” wrote Notre Dame’s President Brett A. Lowart on the school website.

KTLA reports that a funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday in Hancock Park.
