SHERMAN OAKS, CA — Gelson's Sherman Oaks is doing their part to help abandoned and abused animals. The gourmet grocery store will donate 5% of sales on September 12 to Rescue From The Hart, an animal advocacy and rescue organization working to partner animals with the loving homes they deserve.

"Gelson’s established Give Back Day so that they can support the communities they serve," a spokesperson said in a statement. "They are proud to partner with non-profit organizations to do their part."

The Los Angeles-based, volunteer run Rescue From the Hart looks to tackle the pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs and public education. The group cares for rescued animals with vets and trainers before reaching out to the community for sponsoring.
