Bruce Fred Friedman, a former Sherman Oaks money manager, died in a French prison while awaiting extradition on charges that he scammed investors out of more than $220-million according to this story in the Los Angeles Times.
Friedman promised clients that he would invest their money in real estate, however federal prosecutors claim he spent investor's money on luxury cars, expensive homes, jewelry, and travel for himself.
The U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles said prosecutors would probably move to dismiss charges against Friedman once they received the death certificate.
