L.A. Animal Services Expands Van Nuys Pet Food Pantry
Pet owners can receive free food for up to three cats and/or dogs.
VAN NUYS, CA — Pet owners in need of assistance will now be able to pick up free pet food from the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services every Sunday. The agency announced they will expand the pet food pantry program to every Sunday, beginning February 7.
Food will be available for pickup from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and appointments are required ahead of time. Valley residents can head to the Animal Services' East Valley location at 14409 Vanowen St.
Wet and dry food is available for up to three cats and/or dogs per household. Previously, the program was conducted twice a month.

"We are pleased to be able to offer the Pet Food Pantry to residents of Los Angeles on a weekly basis and provide pet owners with pet food they need to feed their animal companions," said L.A. Animal Services General Manager Brenda Barnette. "We are thankful to the organizations and community who continue to support us through direct donations and pet food donations to help us maintain pet food inventory."
People who want to register for an appointment at the East Valley location can visit https://bit.ly/2NyCj4e or call 213-264-8985. Residents must provide the name, weight, sex, and animal license number (if applicable) before registering, and animals must be spayed or neutered to receive food.
