LA Kings Goalie Jonathan Quick Sets U.S. Shutout Record
Kings netminder Jonathan Quick set the record for most shutouts by a U.S. born goalie with Monday's rout of the Chicago Blackhawks.
LOS ANGELES, CA – With a 5-0 victory over the Stanley Cup champions Monday, Los Angeles Kings netminder Jonathan Quick earned the record for most shutouts by a U.S. born goalie.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion and Conn Smythe winner secured his 41st shutout against the Chicago Blackhawks to surpass longstanding record holders John Vanbiesbrouck and Frank Brimsek, who both had 40 shutouts in their careers.
Quick currently shares the record for most playoff shutouts by an American goalie with U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer Mike Richter. They both have nine playoff shutouts to their name. The Kings are in solid playoff contention, sitting atop the Pacific Division with 14 games left in the season.
