LAPD Issues Alert to Craigslist Users
Police say there's been an increase in crimes related to online sites.
The Los Angeles Police Department has issued an alert advising people that there has been an increase in crimes occurring with the use of Craigslist and other online sites.
"If you are presented with a deal that sounds too good to be true, more than likely it is too good to be true," said Detective Frank Avila of the West Valley LAPD.
Avila did not spell out the kinds of crimes that have been committed in these cases.

However, in situations in which people using Craiglist arrange to meet someone to purchase items, Avila suggested meeting the person in a public place.
"Good places to meet are local police stations or malls," he said. "Criminals are less likely to conduct crimes or illegal activity in public areas where lots of people are present."
