Local Jersey Mike's Stores Donate Sales To Cancer For College

Help cancer survivors attend college by grabbing a meal from Jersey Mike's in Sherman Oaks on March 31.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — The Sherman Oaks Jersey Mike's Subs stores are among over 200 Los Angeles-area stores donating 100 percent of sales to Cancer for College on Wednesday.

The organization works to provide need-based scholarships to cancer survivors across the country. Cancer for College was founded by two-time cancer survivor Craig Pollard in 1993, and has given over 1,400 scholarships since it's inception.

The effort is part of the sandwich franchise chain's Month of Giving, which has raised $32 million for local charities since 2011. Jersey Mike's hopes to shatter its own record and raise more than $8 million this year, it said in a news release.

Jersey Mike’s has been taking donations all month for selected charities. “All sales from all locations” will be donated on Wednesday, the company said. Owners will even donate their money to the cause so that every dollar that flows in on Wednesday will go to charity.

Restaurant owners pick the charities and identify organizations “that support local neighborhoods and build a stronger community,” the company said.
