Mendocino Farms Sprouts in Sherman Oaks in October

The artisan neighborhood sandwich concept of Medocino Farms—recognized for its commitment to the art of the sandwich—debuts its new Ventura Boulevard space featuring fresh seasonal selections and ingredients within a whimsical outdoor-inspired setting.

Mendocino Farms, Los Angeles’ cherished sandwich shop, opens the doors to its first San Fernando Valley location at 14141 Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks on Thursday, October 10.

The new location will feature the lauded menu of farm-fresh sandwiches, salads, seasonal sides and soups that have led to a legion of adoring fans across the city. Mendocino Farms’ Co-founders Mario Del Pero and Ellen Chen, residents of the neighborhood had always aimed to bring their beloved concept to their backyard and provide residents a chance to enjoy the acclaimed fare to a whole new region, with Del Pero noting that “we’re excited to bring the Mendocino Farms brand to what is fast-becoming a dining destination within its own right and an audience of families much like our own.”

Designed by Eddie Bitton of Bitton Design Group, the 3,000 square foot space will feature natural elements with a polished flair in line with the concept’s ideology including a 25-foot tall towering tree piercing through the restaurant’s ceiling, turf-covered benches, brasserie chalk-art, an open kitchen showcasing fresh artisanally crafted breads and sandwich making, and the largest Mendocino Farms kids’ corner with a communal table and chalkboard walls.

The newest Mendocino Farms location will further the restaurant’s dedication to imparting chef-driven techniques and practices while enhancing their commitment to providing families a health-conscious menu and desirable dining destination with the addition of table delivery and kid-friendly activities. The concept will continue to source and utilize the highest quality produce from local farms throughout the menu, including new seasonal sandwiches such as Mendo’s Turkey Meatball Hoagie with housemade turkey meatballs in marinara, chimichurri, Drake Farms’ marinated goat cheese, and shredded romaine on Drago Bakery’s soft roll; Carved Steak Pretzel Melt with smoked gouda fondue, red wine onions, roasted tomatoes, and spicy giardiniera; and the Southwest Chicken Salad topped with spice-rubbed, free-range chicken, marinated black beans, roasted red peppers, red onions, avocado, grape tomatoes, house-baked whole wheat tortilla crisps, Scarborough Farms’ mixed greens, butter and romaine lettuces with “ranchy” dressing. Mendocino Farms Sherman Oaks will also feature an updated craft beer and wine list beginning in early November ensuring customers of all ages are properly catered to.

To commemorate the opening of the newest Mendocino Farms location, the restaurant will host their largest Family Fun Day in mid-October. The afternoon event will feature kid-friendly activities including a performance from Rhythm Child, face painting, photobooth, and arts & crafts station to make custom painted photo-frames. The event supports Mendocino Farms’ commitment to being the quintessential neighborhood sandwich shop, and is open to families, friends, local residents, and Angelenos. Making the affair fun for the whole family, kids will eat free with the purchase of a sandwich or salad.
