Mobile Vaccination Center Stops Near Sherman Oaks This Week
Vaccines are now available to children 12 years or older.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — A mobile coronavirus vaccination center will make a stop at the Mid Valley YMCA this week. The vaccination center will be open from Tuesday until Saturday, Councilwoman Nury Martinez said.
The clinic will offer Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to people 12 and older, or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to people over the age of 18. Teens who wish to be vaccinated should come with a parent or guardian, and bring proof of age.
The Mid Valley YMCA is located at 6901 Lennox Ave, and appointments are not necessary to receive a vaccination.

As vaccination rates continue to decrease across the city, some are finding creative ways to entice people to get their coronavirus vaccine. Long Beach announced anyone who receives the vaccine will have a shot at winning either a Nintendo Switch or a two-night stay at a local hotel.
The week prior, the city offered two free tickets to the Aquarium of the Pacific to anyone who received their first vaccine shot.

"We are going to continue to provide incentives and new ideas to get residents vaccinated," Mayor Robert Garcia said. "We continue to vaccinate folks every day and these drawings are another way of reaching different populations."
Last Wednesday, county officials expanded vaccine eligibility to children 12 years or older after the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) gave the approval.
"We are grateful to the scientists, clinicians and the young people who participated in clinical trials that helped the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and the CDC determine that these vaccines are safe and effective for this age group," Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said. "The COVID-19 vaccine is the most powerful tool available to reduce transmission of COVID-19 and prevent hospitalizations and deaths from the virus. Increasing the number of people vaccinated speeds up our recovery journey and allows us to safely participate in the summer activities we all love and miss."
