Muhammad Pulls Sweep at State Meet, Leads Knights to Team Title

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame sprinter Khalfani Muhammad won the 100 and 200 meter dashes, and led the Knights to a victory in the 400 meter relay.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame junior sprinter Khalfani Muhammad ended the season with a bang, winning the CIF State title in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, as well as the 400 relay.

In the process, the Knights won the CIF-State team title, accumulating 36 points. Gardena Serra finished second with 32 points. 

Muhammad spent a majority of the Saturday coming from behind to snatch victory in the waning moments of the race. He trailed by five meters once he received the baton as the anchor leg in the 400-meter relay, but was able to defeat Oxnard Rio Mesa's Cameron Roach by 0.003 seconds.

In the 100, Muhammad exited the blocks slow, but was able to overcome Knights teammate Eric McDaniel and win in 10.52 seconds.

Muhammad finished the day by winning the 200 in 21.15 seconds.
